anti

so for the past little while I have been anti-social.... Not really sure why, but I just don't want to be social, for the most part. I mean, I still go out, see people, talk, do things, same old me, but I just don't want to sit down and talk...
on a side note, this weekend, well, it has been interesting. taking it from the top... friday I went out and looked at cars, felt like driving something different for a bit, went down and drove some cars, had fun. Saturday, hung my ass at Borders, all day long, it was great, I love that place, spent some cash I probably shouldn't but still, it was good times, think that was about the best part of the weekend so far. Sunday, housekeeping most of the day, then sunday night, we ended up hosting a small party, more of a bunch of kids come down-play drinking game-get smashed-type deal, it was slightly off, homeboy broke his router, so I had to go fix that, it was all fuckkededup like nobody's biznach, took a minute to fix. Today, stayed in bed most of the morning, reading 'corporate warriors' by p.w. singer, helped a troopie out after lunch, and watched Bourne Ultimatum, think I am going to do that again sometime, its a damn good movie, something along the same lines as DaVinci Code, saw that a couple times while i was on mid-tour, think this is the same ballpark, it is a excellent film...

So this will be a bit patchworky, I had planned on updating more often, but apparently that is not going ot happen, so I will just try to post when I can.
last week was a complete loss, the only good stuff was this.  My pet roomie was gone, so I had my own space, which I really like.  and I got four clearances finished, submitted and all.  Outside of that we did our physical security inspection thing, and most likely failed.
SO this week, I am trying to pull my medical stuff together, before and around our SRP date, because apparently I am due for all kinds of medical eval thingys.
I think I need to call around to the family, make a distinct effort to reach all of them, just out of general principles before we leave and all like that...
Need to start planning towards my leave, looks like I am going to be taking it earlier than I had planned, something like the same time everyone else, more or less,

Harry Potter

so I got my copy of the new Harry Potter book today, after pre-ordering a copy off amazon, I ended up getting it as a gift from Tiff, thank-you again. Quite surprised me, I was just having a semi-quiet lie in after my surgery yesterday, when she popped me a text asking if I had time to run into clarksville, quite surprised me, really wondered what she had up her sleeve, asked why, she said that I had something waiting for me at borders, turned out to be a copy of the new Harry Potter...

back at work

So I am back at work, been back since yesterday, but been getting back into the groove.  I really didn't want to come back in from leave, it was so nice to have a week off.
Tiff flew in from SoCal on wednesday, and we went camping out at LBL, thanks be that it stopped raining as she flew in.  It was nice, there was fire, and steak, and stuff, it was good...
came back, had more fun.
We saw the new Harry Potter film, Order of the Phoenix, on friday.  This iteration of Harry Potter was again a good movie, but I liked the book better, I usualy do.  They seemed to cut so much out of the storyline, it just seemed really thin, granted that the book is quite large, but still, the amount of material that they cut out, just irked me, I really liked most all of the stuff they cut out.
Saw the preview for The Dark is Rising, and I almost didn't recognize it, I had a 'wait a sec, was that...' moment as I was watching the trailer.  I read the whole series when I was in school, yes I was geekish, back in the day.  From the preview, it looked nothing like it, even now, all the reviews I have been able to find just now, are all saying that the studio is changeing an assload of plot.  The company website is not as bad, looks like they might have reacted to the outcry or something, but as the movie doesn't seem to have it's own website, so I am not all that sure.  Thinking I may have to go see the thing just to see how badly they mangled it.

from the desk next to the refridgerator

So this is coming in from work, because despite the fact that I have a brand new ID card to get onto the computer, I still can't do a hell of a lot of work, because the major online database that I rely on for personnel referencing, is down.  God only knows why, but it is.  So I sit here, I could be out running errands, I have enough paper to shuffle about, but I need to wait for my fearless leadership to get out of a meeting, so I can get straight with the command before I jet.
What a way to work.
So I am basically going on leave tomorrow, technically I don't sign out till monday, but in effect I am taking off tomorrow at COB, because I am only taking local leave, goodish thing being that my leave is getting kind of busy, got stuff I either need to do, or want to do, all week long...

ID card

so I got my new ID card this afternoon, never mind that I didn't need a new one, they gave it too me anyhow, and they still insist on calling me a Corporal, in the new picture thing, you can see the Specialist rank thing, but they still persist in ranking me a Corporal...

AASLT and other lovely things

Today I did something I typically try to avoid, simply because I had nothing better to do with my time.  I attended an Air Assault School Graduation ceremony, and it really wasn't all that bad, on the whole, granted it was hot and humid and really annoying, all sunny an stuff, but the ceremony itself wasn't that bad, it was only about 15 minutes long, by far the shortest ceremony I have attended in a while.
Outside of that, I am once again whoring myself out for duties, snapped onto a Staff Duty position for 40 bucks, not all that bad, considering I was probably not going to do anything more productive with my time anyhow.

mojito

so I want a Mojito, cuz of the Bacardi commercials that seem to be plastering the TV these days, at least, they are on Comedy Central, and they make me want a Mojito, which is basically white rum, with some lime, sugar, mint leaves, and some club soda. It was a favorite of Hemmingway, of course, he used real Cuban white rum, whereas we have a trade embargo to deal with, but all the same, these Bacardi commercials make me want a Mojito...

CAC card

so I did something really stupid yesterday morning, I locked myself out of my common access card, so now I can't use my computer till next week, tuesday afternoon, to be precise. This is simply because we have to schedule an appointment to get the thing unblocked, and the soonest they can get to it is right after lunch on tuesday.

robin hood

so I just finished watching robin hood: men in tights, it is really hilarious, a terrible adaption of Robin Hood, but hilarious all the same.

pidgin

so I got a livejournal account this morning, simple enough process, one might think. Apparently not so much, I got the LJ account, and then realized that I can post to it using all kinds of methods, traditional web-based text input, e-mail, IM client, and my cell phone. really convenient

phone

" apparently I can also post through my phone, so I will have to try that sometime too, this is all kinds of easy, I may well be able to call this the most convenient thing yet, might well supersede my blogger account"
old aim icon

cool

"I can now post to my livejournal via IM, this is the sweetness, I think I might be able to keep this thing updated, with some kind of regularity, since it is incredibly easy for me to post to it"
old aim icon

test

" testing my posting abilities"

I wonder if I would work better posting to a LiveJournal, I have myspace, and a Blogger account, but I just can't seem to keep either one up to date with any kind of regularity, which is probably a good thing, since I guess the army frowns on these things...
